About
Courtney has been providing overnight newborn care in the Central Ohio area (Columbus) since 2016.
Her first overnight family was a set of twins. She supported the family (two parents, two dogs, two new babies, and one older brother!) for six months. When the twins were nearly 3 years old, they were reunited. They are wonderful kids, and still great sleepers! She enjoys living in a small community, and values the ability to stay in touch with the families she supports both short and long term.
From an early age, Courtney knew that working with children and families is what she was meant to do. Along with being a date night sitter, she was a mother’s helper for newborn twins. This began when she was only twelve years old. She assisted with holding, changing, feeding, and calming the babies. She is a natural nurturer and caregiver.
She received a BA in Early Childhood Education, and taught Pre-k and first grade for several years.
In 2018, she trained as a Newborn Care Specialist. In 2019 she trained as a Postpartum Doula through DONA. In 2020 she became a certified NCS. Since 2016, she has over 3,000 contact hours with newborns, with a concentration in overnight newborn care for multiples. She works mainly in the German Village, Bexley, Worthington, Westerville, Upper Arlington, New Albany, and Dublin areas, but travels as far south as Grove City and as far north as Delaware, Ohio.
When she is not assisting families with their questions about typical newborn behaviors, and if they will “ever sleep again” she does yoga, reads, and travels world-wide.
Not every family wants or needs overnight help, but just like raising a family, the world of birth workers is a team. She is lucky to know many professionals; including Birth and Postpartum Doulas, Certified Lactation Consultants, maternity / birth photographers and other people you may want to help support you on your parenting journey.
Please reach out for recommendations. Her current goals are to expand her services both in-home and virtually, and continue with her extensive training and education. She looks forward to sharing her “baby whispering” powers with families for years to come.
“Caring for twins is a special skill set and Courtney was incredibly competent with twin infants. It takes a special person to feed two infants at once and care for them in the middle of the night.”
