What Makes a House a Home?

When is the last time you changed your address and moved somewhere new?

For me, and separately my parents, it has been in the last couple of weeks.

Deciding what to keep, what to donate, what to recycle, what to throw away, it can be hard work. The same thing happens when you have a new baby. Are you going to reuse items from an older sibling, cousins, friends?

The world is a different place right now. Baby showers are on hold, people are hesitant to use old items. Whatever you feel comfortable with is up to you. I do a lot of baby registries and help parents determine what is needed, what is nice, and what is unnecessary, and I would love to help you too!

I was very blessed to grow up in a walk-able, safe place where I received an excellent education from preschool through college. College is a long way off if you’re expecting, so let’s take a step back. I want you to think about that things that made your home most comfortable for you and your family. Was it a big backyard with a playground? Tea by the fireplace? Comfy robes?

One of the biggest things I remember from childhood is one of my parents walking me to school everyday. They were short walks, but the time spent together was priceless. School may look a bit different this year, but if you are having a new baby, I want to give you back that time. Even just a walk around the block. Parenting is a juggling act, but a wise women once said:

Maya Angelou — 'I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.'

You are at your best when you are rested and have a routine. I’ll be here when you need help putting one together, day or night, first kid or third, singleton or multiples. Please reach out.
